About
A New Way of Life Reentry Project (ANWOL) is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California, working to empower communities with opportunity, where justice-impacted women heal, excel, and lead—while disrupting systems of oppression and harm. Founded in 1998 by Susan Burton, ANWOL provides safe housing, legal services, leadership development, and employment support to formerly incarcerated women. Our work is rooted in racial and gender justice, and our programs offer pathways to personal transformation and systemic change. We build leadership from the ground up, equipping women directly impacted by incarceration to become advocates and organizers in their communities. Our vision is a world where people impacted by incarceration can thrive, lead, and drive meaningful change. We welcome students and recent graduates interested in social justice, nonprofit communications, legal advocacy, public policy, and reentry work to connect with us.
